The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has arrested a senior treasurer in Kitagwenda district for forging academic qualifications.

The accused, Frank Bangirana, has been employed as a senior treasurer at Kitagwenda town council and is currently detained at Kamwenge central police station and awaiting his appearance in court.

The accusations stem back to 2020 when Bangirana who possesses a pass degree forged papers to secure a public service job he was not qualified for.

Rodney Ahabwe, the head of the IGG regional office in Fort Portal says Bangirana applied and was appointed chief finance officer at Kitagwenda district local government, knowing too well he was not fit for the job.

Bangirana was reported by a whistleblower back in 2020 but investigations into the matter froze due to Covid-19 until this year after he was upgraded to a senior treasurer at Kitagwenda town council.

The penal code act 347 cap 120, states that any person who forges any document commits an offense and is liable to a punishment of three years in prison
