Police in Luwero have apprehended a suspect who disguised himself as a mentally ill individual in order to rob and murder a security guard at Advance Smart Micro Finance in Modern Zone, Wobulenzi town.
The suspect, whose name has been withheld, is currently being held at the Luwero Central Police Station and is awaiting prosecution in court. On December 7, the suspect attacked the Micro Finance institution and fought with security guard Odongo Leone, 20, before shooting him dead and stealing a firearm.
The suspect was eventually arrested by police after receiving a tip from local residents who were able to identify him, according to the acting Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson Patrick Lule.
This individual is also believed to be involved in a previous robbery at a petrol station in Lukomera trading center, where they stole another firearm.
The incident was captured on CCTV and police recovered two SAR rifles that were buried in sand and wrapped in polythene bags.
