A 50-year-old witch doctor has been arrested for murder and ritual sacrifice after police recovered three fresh human skulls at his shrine in Makindye Ssabagabo.
The suspect, identified as Jjaja Magombe, is currently being held at Katwe police station as investigations go on.
Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson says police raided Magombe's Magombe’s shrine located in Kazinga, Massajja Kibiri B village following reports from whistle-blowers.
He says police recovered three human skulls, and a bottle of blood at the shrine and have since been taken to the forensic laboratory for analysis.
Irate locals have also burned down the shrine and threatened to lynch the suspect should he be released from police custody.
Statistics from police between 2019 and 2022 indicate that over 130 incidents of human sacrifice were recorded. Of these 22 were recorded in 2019; 45 in 2020 and 65 cases happened in 2021.
Police indicate that the majority of the victims are children who are killed for wealth purposes.
