Musician Priscilla Zawedde, also known as Azawi, approaches music with a unique understanding that sets her apart from many Ugandan artists. She's incredibly gifted with various talents.
Azawi has a background in dancing, and she's also a writer, producer, guitarist, and performer who has excelled throughout the years.
Whenever she speaks about Ugandan music, her opinions always matter and are valuable to various music stakeholders.
Addressing our current music industry, Azawi states that most artists are releasing mediocre music. The songs lack depth and creativity.
Azawi believes a song should leave the studio fully produced and mastered, complete with diverse sounds and beats that evoke emotions in both the singer and the listener.
"We lack that depth in the music we release these days. It's just something raw without creativity and anything bound to people's emotions. We actually need to do better in order to drive our industry forward," she partly explained in an interview with a local television station.
Azawi, however, also places some blame on fans who readily embrace everything released as music.
