Musician Nina Kakunda, also known as Nina Roz, spent years under the management of Black Market Records.
During her time there, she worked on various music projects, releasing some while others remained recorded but unreleased.
Nina Roz has since quit the music label and is now pursuing a solo career, promoting her music with the help of a few assistants and promoters.
A few days ago, Black Market Records hinted at releasing some of Nina Roz's music.
However, the musician has responded, demanding that the label stop releasing her music. She asserts that their working relationship has ended and they no longer have rights to her songs.
Nina Roz states that she will not stand by and watch her music be misused by selfish people, and she will fight to protect it.
"Respectfully, my contract with Black Market Records officially ended, and I retain full rights over my unreleased music. Any further release without my consent is unauthorized. I value my art, and I will not allow anyone to misuse or profit off my work without agreement," she responded.
Since then, various people have advised Nina Roz to seek legal guidance from the authorities.
It should be noted that earlier this year, Bruno K was awarded over five hundred million Uganda shillings by the high court in a case he filed over the misuse of his copyright by Black Market Records.
