The Uganda peoples defense forces UPDF 2nd division Spokesperson Maj. Ronald Kakurungu has warned all politicians training militia groups to stop as they will deal with them using an iron hand.
In an exclusive interview with Galaxy fm this morning, Maj. Kakurungu re-echoed his boss, CDF Gen. Katumba Wamala’s words he recently said at the launch of Tarehe Sita, that they will not allow any militia groups to disrupt the voting exercise come February 18th.
According to the army officer, voters are expected to appear at polling stations, cast their votes and get back to their jobs as usual, or go home and wait for the results to be released.
Recently, the CDF said they would come in to keep the situation normal, just in case the police, which is the main security office designated to supervise the electoral process asks for their intervention.
It is just 15 days to the presidential elections, and the situation seems to still be calm.
