Kadongo Kamu musician and Kyengera Municipality Mayor Mathias Walukaga has reportedly been hospitalized following the shock of being disqualified from the Busiro East MP race earlier this week.
Walukaga was removed from the race by the Electoral Commission after a petition from a supporter of incumbent MP Medard Segona, citing that his academic documents did not meet the minimum qualifications for nomination.
Sources close to the musician say he fainted on Monday evening shortly after learning of the decision. He was rushed to a medical facility in Kyengera, where he is said to be receiving treatment and responding well.
According to insiders, the news took a heavy toll on Walukaaga, who has spent over six months on the campaign trail and invested millions of shillings in mobilization and donations to voters.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) has already announced plans to appeal the Electoral Commission’s decision in the High Court. However, critics argue that Walukaaga should “go back to school” and upgrade his qualifications instead of pursuing what they consider a futile legal battle.
More details about his health status remain scant, however a close friend told us, he was having Severe Runny Tummy as his team maintains silence over the matter.
