Last month, during an interview with Sanyuka Television, the Prime Minister of Buganda Kingdom, Charles Peter Mayiga, revealed some NUP members pressured him to declare that the 2021 general elections were unfair.
"After the election, some NUP supporters pressured me to declare that the election was unfair, but I didn’t. I’m not the Electoral Commission," he explained in an interview with Sanyuka Television.
However, the National Unity Platform President, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, has distanced himself from the claims, stating no one in the party pressured Mayiga to do so.
Bobi Wine explained he didn't do so and no one else in the National Unity Platform did.
"Neither I nor my fellow NUP leaders approached the Katikkiro to declare us winners. As some of us are trained in law, we fully understand that the Katikkiro of Buganda does not head the Electoral Commission," he explained in an interview with NTV Uganda on Wednesday night.
Bobi Wine however called upon the Katikkiro to continue speaking out against injustices in the region.
