Police in Hoima are holding  a 35-year-old man accused of stabbing his wife of three children to death in a domestic fight.

The suspect, Johnson Baguma, a resident of Kitoba sub county killed Esther Nyamaizi 27, a resident of Birungu village in Kitoba sub county on Saturday night after realizing she had dumped him for another man.

The couple had recently separated just months ago and Nyamaizi left her marital home to stay with her parents.

However, on Saturday night at around 11p.m, Baguma attacked his ex-wife from her parent’s house accusing her of sleeping with another man, despite having his children in the same house.

Armed with a sharp machete, Baguma summoned the deceased out of her parent’s house before he started hurling insults, calling her a prostitute and home wrecker. Nyamaizi was reportedly in the company of another man when Baguma raided the house.

Enraged by his wife’s actions, Baguma pulled out the sharp knife and stabbed Nyamaizi in the stomach , killing her instantly.

Venenture Isingoma, the deceased’s father says that they only heard Nyamaizi screaming for help while in her house and rushed to see what was happening to her only to find her lying dead in a pool of blood.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says after committing the gruesome act, Baguma handed himself to Kigorobya central police station where he was briefly detained before he was whisked to Hoima central police station where he is currently being detained.

He says the postmortem report indicates that Nyamaizi died due to excessive bleeding that resulted from the injuries inflicted on her, adding that her body was later handed over to the relatives for burial.
