Independent candidate declared winner of Busia LCV Chairperson seat

The electoral commission has officially declared Wandera Geoffrey the new Busia LC 5 Chairman after the other candidates were disqualified and others voluntarily jumped out of the race.

The electoral commission has officially declared Wandera Geoffrey the new Busia LC 5 Chairman after the other candidates were disqualified and others voluntarily jumped out of the race.

Umar Kiyimba the Returning officer Busia electoral district announced Wanders winner this afternoon, in accordance with section 172 of the Local Government Act and section 19A of the parliamentary Act.

Wandera won the seat unopposed after electoral commission cancelled the nominations of NRM candidate Oguttu Boniface and that of DP candidate Deogratius Njokilast week.

The race which had attracted five candidates then remained with three, including the eventual winner and two other independent candidates Ojambo Ronny and Bwire Chrispus who deliberately withdrew from the race.

Now termed by many as the chosen one, Wandera will be sworn in and begin his duties. The seat fe vacant in May this year.
