The Commission of Inquiry into the affairs of Uganda National Roads Authority-UNRA has finally handed over the final report to President Yoweri Museveni, after six months of inquiry.

The Commission of Inquiry into the affairs of Uganda National Roads Authority-UNRA has finally handed over the final report to President Yoweri Museveni, after six months of inquiry.

Inside the 1,300-page report, the commission discovered that the authority misappropriated 4 trillion Shillings.

Also, the commission indicates that UNRA constructed 1,500 KM of roads in a space of 7 years using 9 Trillion shillings, yet the same amount could have constructed 15,147KM.

Recommendations,

The Bamugemereire commission that 90 top officials of the authority be prosecuted and their assets attached to recover the 4 trillion shillings that was misappropriated. 

Also, Peter Ssebanakitta and Ssebuga Kimeze, both former Executive Directors of the Authority should head the team that is due prosecution.

Also, the commission advised that the president orders the IGG, CID and Attorney general to with immediate effect start prosecuting the culprits and bring them to book.

The UNRA Commission Chairperson, Justice Catherine Bamugemereire handed over the report to President Yoweri Museveni last night at Entebbe State House.

Museveni directed the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) to act on the report as recommended by the commission, and the development was confirmed by the Judiciary spokesperson Solomon Muyita.
