Ruth Nankabirwa, the outgoing Government Chief Whip has petitioned the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to discipline former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga for going against the party.

The development follows a move by Kadaga, also Kamuli County MP to stand as an independent candidate for the Speakership race of the 11th Parliament, after the Party asked her to stand down.

Kadaga and Nankabirwa were entangled in a bitter conflict that saw Nankabirwa openly campaigning against Kadaga in two elections including the recent one of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

Kadaga was recently defeated in the Speakership race by Omoro County MP Jacob Oulanya who was the NRM official flag bearer.

He polled 310 votes against Kadaga’s 197 votes.

Howsever, Nankabirwa while holding her last press conference with members of the Uganda Parliamentary Press Association (UPPA)today, said she is ready to reconcile with Kadaga, but she does not think everything can just be washed away without Kadaga apologizing.

Nankabirwa noted that she has now petitioned the NRM Secretary-General Justine Kasule Lumumba demanding that before anything, Kadaga should apologize to President Museveni for openly speaking about him, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) for defying them, and the NRM Party for going against the party’s code of conduct.

Nankabirwa says that she is ready to reconcile with Kadaga and if there is something she did that annoyed Kadaga she equally will seek forgiveness.
