Former CPS commander Aaron Baguma has today defied a court summons by Chief Magistrate Jameson Karemani to appear before Buganda Road court.

Baguma is charged alongside four others, including Hajj Muhamed Ssebuwufu the pine car bond proprietor for torturing and murdering businesswoman Betty Katusabe over a debt of 7 million Uganda shillings.

According to reports, Baguma was well aware of this gruesome act and on several occasions visited the torture chamber, checked on the suffering Katushabe but mercilessly left her to die.

On Monday this week, Polly Namaye, the deputy police spokesperson confirmed receipt of Baguma’s summons by the force contrary to earlier reports that he was never summoned.

Baguma was slated to appear today but never showed prompting the presiding magistrate to adjourn the matter to September 1st.

His boss, the inspector general of police Gen. Kale Kayihura also failed to show up at Makindye chief magistrates’ court where he had been summoned to answer to charges on police brutality.

At the start of the week, Namaye said Baguma had been sent for further training and that the force would produce him at an appropriate time.
