The police are searching for two male assailants, who attacked two officers, and shot and injured one.

The officers were walking to their duty station at a Catholic Church in Buwama Town council Mpigi district on Sunday evening when they were attacked.

They have been identified as No.58794 PC Otim Lawrence and No. 58498 PC Nkolo Paul both attached to the tourism police Kayabwe detach.

According to Fred Enanga the police spokesperson, it is alleged that the two police officers were moving from the detach on their way to the Catholic Church for duty when they met the shooters. 

The officers had passed the four people dressed in civilian clothes, when immediately the two men turned and started shooting at them.

Enanga says that the assailants pretended as if they were together with two women who were carrying elephant grass.

The police officers also responded with fire but in the process, PC Otim was shot on the waist and shoulder. The victim was rushed to Nkozi hospital and later referred to Mulago hospital for further management. 

“They tried to ambush them and steal guns from them but it was not successful. The officers were alert and they managed to release bullets which forced them to flee into one of the banana plantations
After injuring the officer, all four assailants fled the scene.
