The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is investigating five candidates from St Francis Secondary School in Kawempe Division for attempting to cheat in exams.
The senior six candidates currently sitting their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations(UACE) were busted on Tuesday and taken to Kawempe police after pure mathematics and European History papers.
Three of the candidates were reportedly involved in impersonation while two others were found with foreign material in the room.
Annet Kemaali, UNEB Legal Officer says the candidates have been permitted to do other papers as investigations into the allegations continue.
This is the second time that the school is being implicated in acts of examination malpractice. During the just concluded Uganda Certificate Examinations (UCE), another candidate was prosecuted for impersonation.
Rebecca Munyezi, 30, hired one Asuman Kidawuli to write her UNEB exams at a fee of 2.5 million shillings. She was later found guilty and fined 200,000 shillings.
A total of 97,890 students have been registered to sit for the exams compared to 98,392 who sat for the same examinations in 2020.
The examinations that started on Monday last week will end on December 9.
